Owl pattern
What you need:
- Purple, light pink and orange yarn (same size for all yarns)
- A crochet a little bit smaller than recommended on the yarn label
- Pillow stuffing
- Darning needle
- Scissors
- 6 mm googly plastic eyes (x 2)
Abbreviations:
- sc = single crochet
- inc = increase
- dec = decrease
- sl st = slip stitch
- ch = chain stitch
- dc = double crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- tr = treble crochet
- st = stitch
- [ ] = work instructions within these symbols as many times as directed
- ( ) = number of stitches in the row/round.
- BLO = Back Loop Only: work in the back loops of the previous round/row
- FLO = Front Loop Only: work in the front loops of the previous round/row
Owl is crocheted from bottom to top, in the spiral.
BODY & HEAD, With PURPLE:
Round 1: 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
Round 2: 6 inc (12)
Round 3: [1 inc + 1 sc] x 6 (18)
Round 4: [1 inc + 2 sc] x 6 (24)
Round 5: [1 inc + 3 sc] x 6 (30)
Round 6: [1 inc + 4 sc] x 6 (36)
Round 7: 15 sc, switch to pink, 6 sc, switch to purple, 15 sc
Round 8: 14 sc, switch to pink, 8 sc, switch to purple, 14 sc
Round 9: 13 sc, switch to pink, 10 sc, switch to purple, 13 sc
Rounds 10 – 12: 12 sc, switch to pink, 12 sc, switch to purple, 12 sc
Round 13: 13 sc, switch to pink, 10 sc, switch to purple, 13 sc
Round 14: 15 sc, switch to pink, 7 sc, switch to purple, 14 sc
Round 15: [1 dec, 4 sc] x 6 (30)
Round 16: [1 dec, 3 sc] x 6 (24)
Round 17: [1 inc, 1 sc] x 12 (36)
Round 18: [1 inc, 5 sc] x 6 (42)
Rounds 19 – 20: 42 sc
Round 20: [1 dec, 5 sc] x 6 (36)
Round 21: 36 sc
Round 22: [1 dec, 4 sc] x 6 (30)
Round 23: 30 sc
Round 24: [1 dec, 3 sc] x 6 (24)
Rounds 25 – 26: 24 sc
Finish off. Leave long tail for sewing.
Flatten the top of the head and sew both sides together.

EYES (x 2), WITH PINK:
Round 1: 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
Round 2: 6 inc (12)
Round 3: [1 inc + 1 sc] x 6 (18)
Finish off. Leave long tail for sewing.
Assemble both pieces together and sew on the face.
Glue plastic eyes in the center of each circle.

WINGS (x 2), WITH PURPLE:
Round 1: 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
Round 2: 6 inc (12)
Round 3: [1 inc + 1 sc] x 6 (18)
Then, ch 5, turn, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 tr, skip 3 stitches on the spiral, 1 sl st into the next st.
Finish off. Leave long tail for sewing.

Attach to the body, sewing only the upper edges of the wings.

LEGS (x 2), WITH ORANGE:
Work in rows, end each sc row with 1 turning ch:
Row 1: Ch 3
Rows 2 – 3: 2 sc
Row 4: 2 inc (4)
Rows 5 – 11: 4 sc
Row 12: 2 dec (2)
Row 13: 2 sc
Finish off. Leave long tail for sewing.
Fold in half and sew under the body.

With orange yarn, embroider 4 or 5 vertical stitches under the eyes to depict a beak .
